Man found deceased at scene of Avon fire

AVON – A deceased male was located in the garage of a Far Hills Drive home after officials responded to a fire there the morning of Tuesday, April 12, according to a police department press release.

Police officers and fire personnel responded to an alarm at 43 Far Hills Drive around 7:40 a.m. and fire personnel observed smoke coming from a three-bay garage at the home, the release states.

The Avon Volunteer Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire, keeping it from spreading the the main structure, the release states.

The deceased adult male was located in the garage and no other residents were home at the time, police said. No further information was immediately released.

The Avon Fire Marshal's Office, State Fire Marshal's Office, State Police Fire Investigation Unit and the Avon Police Patrol and Detective Units were actively on scene Tuesday morning. Residents of the home will be displaced pending investigation, police said.
