FARMINGTON – The Town of Farmington has withdrawn its request to use the lights and public address system at Farmington High School for up to 6-night games or events this fall. The Farmington Recreation Department was requesting a special-use permit to use the facilities for town rec football, lacrosse, and track programs for night games that would also use the PA system at the high school football field. A town representative said they hope to resubmit the application to the Plan and Zoning Commission after tallying up home many total nights the field might be used.
Any additionally requested uses would come in addition to the 14 scheduled sporting events that Farmington High School teams will play on the same field using the lights and the PA system. The high school events are allowed to run until 9:30 p.m. using the systems in place. Some neighbors had expressed concerns about what they said was a lack of detailed information about an increase in games.
